In reaction to mounting housing expenses, decreased investment returns or a combination of both many homeowners start to panic about their financial future. As a knee jerk reaction a decision to move is quickly made and the search for housing that is cheaper begins. With the only motivation being to free-up equity and less operating costs a smaller less expensive house is quickly decided upon.
Unfortunately after the purchase is made and the packing starts the buyers start to realize that they were sacrificing a lot to move into a smaller, cheaper home. The new home could be out of their neighbourhood or even their city leaving friends and family behind. With a smaller home many buyers realize prized possessions will need to be put into storage or disposed of. Upon moving into the home the buyers find the home cramped and their quality of life diminishes dramatically. After a few months the buyers realized they are saving money but their quality of life has been greatly impacted. They start to plan a less drastic move one that takes both financial and lifestyle into account.
